What's the walk gunna be like?
Who can do the walk?
The Central Park, NYC Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) is for leashed* sighthounds only. Greyhounds, Galgos, Lurchers, Greyhound Crosses, Podencos, Salukis, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds are examples of sighthounds that we expect to attend with their owners/adopters. Our GGGW is not an all breed walk. However other dogs from a Greyhound family may attend with their Greyhound.

Dogs that attend must be all dog and all people friendly.

*The GGGW international policy prohibits flexi-leads from being used for any dogs on any of the walks around the world. Extra long leads are also prohibited.
Getting there and how to find us.
Please plan extra travel time. The subways always run late, parking is tough unless you park in a garage. Consider using parking apps like Spot Hero that have great deals or look for other garage parking.

Start and finish: Tennis Center in Central Park. Enter Park from Central Park West near 93rd. St. on the West side or Fifth Ave and 97th. St. from the East side. Check the Directions page for details and a map.
What's the plan for the day?
10am - Arrival and check in. Pick up complimentary pup bandanas, temporary tattoos and goodie bags.

11am - Group photo and depart for 1 mi. and shorter 1/2 mile walk around the Tennis Courts. Or just hang out and socialize.
1pm'ish - Start packing up, collect and dispose of trash and say goodbye until next year!

2pm - That's all they wrote! Permit for our event expires.
What to wear?
Flags are the theme again. So wear red, white and blue or any other flag colors you want. You can represent your country or commonwealth of origin. We'll have the pups covered with free themed commemorative bandanas while they last.
Know before you go.
RELEASE: If you participate in the GGGW you are responsible for yourself and agree not to hold the Greyhounds of New York City group, its leaders or members and their dogs, liable in any way for any injuries or damage that may occur as a result of your participation.
Unless you know a dog and their owner, please always ask first before petting.
Never rush into a group of dogs. Keep your dog at your side when approaching a group and slowly make introductions one at a time with other pups.
If your pup is new to you or a shy dog, or needs space - please leave a comfortable distance between yourself and your pup and others. Crowds can be intimidating for some dogs. So if you see a pup and their human standing apart from the group - please respect their space.
'I Need Space' bandanas will be available for pups that need extra space.
For everyone's safety and comfort - pups who are reactive toward other dogs or people or fearful in large groups should not attend.
All dogs who participate must be all dog and all people friendly.
What to bring.
Bring a water bowl, blanket, snacks and treats for you and your pups. Some refreshments are available in the Tennis Center.
Bring poop bags for pick ups!
Bring cash, credit/debit cards, checks for donations. Anything except cryptocurrency!

What not to bring: Please no flexi-leads or super long leashes. For reals.
Are bathrooms nearby?
Yup, bathrooms are connected to the Tennis Center building. You can also get fresh water for your pup there too.
We Want Your Pics & Vids
We'll be putting together a video like prior years. So please send us your pics and short vids (less than 30 seconds) as soon as you can to: greyhoundsofnyc@gmail.com. We want to include them!
